There is a song called "hard headed woman" by Cat Stevens. This is a great song with awesome lyrics. I was introduced to this song by my Quay Lo during the early years of our marriage, and to be honest, I fall in love with him all over again each time I listen to this song, largely because of what he told me about how he viewed me, and what the song presents so poetically. Why do I feel so lovey dovey? Aah..perhaps love is in the air. Valentine's Day is around the corner. May I wish you all an ENJOYABLE and LOVELY Valentine's day and let's enjoy the song for now!
Hard Headed Woman
So ladies, are you one hard headed woman? And, guys, how are you going to spend this Valentine's Day with yours?
I'm looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will take me for myself,
And if I find my hard headed woman,
I will need nobody else, no, no.
I'm looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me do my best,
And if I find my hard headed woman
I know the rest of my life will be blessed -- yes, yes, yes.
I know a lot of fancy dancers,
people who can glide you on a floor,
They move so smooth but have no answers.
When you ask "Why'd you come here for?"
"I don't know" "Why?"
I know many fine feathered friends
but their friendliness depends on how you do.
They know many sure fired ways
to find out the one who pays
and how you do.
I'm looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me feel so good,
And if I find my hard headed woman,
I know my life will be as it should -- yes, yes, yes.
I'm looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me do my best,
And if I find my hard headed woman...
So ladies, are you one hard headed woman? And, guys, how are you going to spend this Valentine's Day with yours?
I could hear the song playing while I was in the kitchen cooking green bean and creamed corn soup for dinner last evening. Very naturally, I found myself singing along and cooking at the same time but when it comes to the part when Cat Stevens sang, "I'm looking for a hard headed woman..", I sang, "I'm looking for a bull headed man.." LOL!
Here is the simple yet delicious soup we had for a one dish meal last evening. I had mine with rice and Quay Lo had his with freshly baked crusty bread. Try it!

ReplyDeleteSoup is good. I love the piggies too:D A lovely gift from my SIL.
DeleteWhat are you buying (or cooking) for Quay Lo? I think Valentine's Day is two-way...not just the guy buying flowers, chocolates and presents for the girl... That would be so ancient - the days when without a man, a woman is nothing. Agree? It's a day for lovers, both ways.
ReplyDeleteIt has been both ways for me and Quay Lo. We share TLC all year round but Valentine's day is an excuse to show extra in our own way and we don't need to spend big bucks on gifts, flowers or sweets:D Agree, those were the days when a woman is nothing without a man.
DeleteThanks for the reminder! Happy Valentine's Day,you hard-headed woman! I never paid attention to all the lyrics of the song. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletehaha, thanks and Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours too.
DeleteHave a great Valentine's Day, Lucy!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great song and great lyrics to boot. I wouldn't want a bull headed man ... I want one as hard headed as me ... an equal. Well, maybe slightly more than an equal esp when it comes to fixing some stuff around the house. I can happily say I've found a great friend in my husband and he'll probably tell you I'm as hard headed as it gets :D ... sometimes a little too hard :D
This is a great post. More women should know this, esp asian women.
There is such a lot I have to say about this issue, this might turn into an article instead of just a comment. :D
I love soups like this and definitely with some good crusty bread to mop it all up.
I will and you too Lucy:D What if I tell your man that it is not what he does for his woman that makes her love him more? I think you will unfriend me! hehehe On a serious note, there is nothing more blessed than having a partner who is also a great friend.
DeleteReminds me of my past 2 relationships. IF..IF I knew how to handle things back then. Oh..can u email me the biscuit gravy? racheljtle at gmail.com
ReplyDeletethanks
Don't look back my dear, that's why we don't have eyes at the back of our head:D I have already emailed you the biscuit gravy.

DeleteI'm definitely a hard-headed woman! But, sometimes that's what's needed to get things done. My boyfriend understands! Ha!
ReplyDeleteGreat, you boyfriend is a smart guy!
DeleteThis is definitely comfort food. A pot of soup you can just curl up and eat. Perfect for the snowy day we're suppose to get tomorrow. YUM!
ReplyDeletehaha, that's a loving way to celebrate V-day.
DeleteI like Cat Stevens but for some unknown reason I never came across this song before. Maybe automatic filter:)
ReplyDeleteCat Stevens is a great artist and a poet. We love his songs.
Deletemore men in our country shld also understand that hard headed women is not a threat to their male egos. Happy Valentine's day!

ReplyDeleteThanks Kenny:D
DeleteThanks for the uplifting Valentine's post, Veronica! I used to be a "mushy, gushy" type of person for Valentine but as we get older...reality sets in, and the only thing in life matters; is that we are "happy who we are"...and to certainly make the ones we love happy, and to do special things for them:DDD
ReplyDeleteLove your delicious and comforting creamy soup...nice combination with the green beans, and corn.
Hugs,
p.s. I want to hear all about your romantic Valentine's dinner at the French restaurant, with photos, and stories!
